Why wood needs to be sanded for furniture or panel making?

In woodworking field, wood sanding is necessary for furniture or panel making. Wide belt sanding machine is also called wide belt sander or WBS machine. The sanding belt is whole piece with 700mm, 1000mm, 1300mm or 1600mm. There are sevearl reasons why we need it

(1) The wide belt sander can sand off the weak layer on the surface of the wood-based panel, such as the pre-cured layer on the surface of the particleboard, the paraffin layer on the surface of the fiberboard, etc.
(2) There is inspection and acceptance standards for the thickness and dimensional deviation of wood-based panels, so the wood must be sanded with a fixed thickness to ensure the thickness of the board/panel meets the standard requirements.
(3) The wide belt sanding machine can improve the roughness of the board/panel surface to obtain a uniform and fine surface quality, which is ready for the finishing work of the board.
(4) The wide belt sanding machine can correct the asymmetry of the plate structure and eliminate the asymmetric state of the bulk density distribution of the cross-section of the plate, so as to maintain the smoothness of the plate surface for a long time.
(5) The wide sanding machine can sand off various pollutions on the surface of the plate, and improve the chemical activity of the surface of the plate, so as to facilitate the sticking.
